Waxed cotton and linen was used by sailors to repair line. It's water resistant, softens with use and wears like iron. It's also beautiful.
Whirling Girl makes these waxed cotton and linen necklaces by hand, using sailing knots and beautiful glass and silver
beads, and toggle clasps, another sailor's invention.
Length: 16" is typically choker length, 18" is standard for most women's necklaces, and 20-22" works well for most men. Our simple necklace can also be made adjustable with sliding knots rather than a toggle clasp.
Please indicate what length you prefer when you order. If no preference is stated, we
generally make our necklaces 17" long. You can double the bar through the toggle to shorten the necklace as well.
There are two charm sizes we use for our waxed linen rowing necklaces:
3/4" heavier charm used for plain and nautical knot
1/2" charm used for our beaded necklaces
